      Favourite TV Series Character
      Aug 26, 2022 09:43:42 pm
Not made an opening post for a topic in a long long while so it may be a stinker but bear with me.

Who is your favourite TV Series Character?

It was a tough call for me, I am a sucker for lead characters who go from nothing to something, so I have to give some honourable mentions to Thomas Shelby (Peaky Blinders), Walter White (Breaking Bad), and Jon Snow (Game of Thrones).

But for me Ragnar Lothbrok from the TV show Vikings is my number one pick, his character embodies the zero-to-hero journey and the conflict you see from him internally throughout the show is really something. He has inspirational speech after speech and he just made the TV series what it was. His character was brilliant in battle, but a great judge of character, incredibly vulnerable yet at the same time wickedly dangerous.

Larry David - Curb Your Enthusiasm

I think we all have a bit of Larry in us and how he portrays this version of himself who just doesn't conform to normal social convention is just genius.

I'll be back in this thread for more as I have a good few secondary characters in TV shows that I love.

Probably a name that many have never heard of, but I'll go with Jennifer Goines (12 Monkeys), played by the delightful Emily Hampshire.

Honourable mentions: Jesse Pinkman, bi*ch! (Breaking Bad), Tyrion Lannister (GoT), Chandler Bing (Friends), Gregory House (House M.D.), Jack Bauer (24)

Just been re-watching some old compilations of Jon Snow's character from GOT and I just will never forgive the writers for how that story ended, would have been my favourite character by quite a bit I reckon.

Iconic. Best TV show ever made.

From The Sopranos one of my secondary characters that I love:

      Artie Bucco.

John Ventimiglia does such a great job with the little mannerisms and you can tell Artie hates being a regular Joe but also never has the balls to be a gangster like his mates at the same time.

Really subtly played at times and for me a standout among many in that show

Favorite TV Series character for me it doesn't take a half a second for me to answer this. Magnum P.I. (the original, not the new turd). Tom Selleck will forever wear a Hawaiian shirt and a Detroit Tigers cap in my mind. Grew up on that show and his character was the dude I always wanted to be.

For current shows....has to be Rip from Yellowstone.

Marty Funkhouser - Curb Your Enthusiasm

One of the best supporting characters in the series as many of Larry's best moments are when Marty is around. Bob Einstein was superb.

And  just after adding the clip reminded me of another, Cousin Andy. Only makes a few appearances but always memorable  :D

John Hamm as Don Draper in Mad Men - Brilliant!

Also think he would have made an amazing Clark Kent.

Nice mate! Such a good series. I’ll have to rewatch it in about 20years time when I retire. The backlog is getting longer 😩

      I really love non-main characters who have such an impact on shows, mainly with comedy value so for me;

      Joe - Royle Family
      Chisholm - Minder
Marlene - Only Fools and Horses (though that entire cast is spot on, so all of them)
      Grouty - Porridge
      Percy/Darling - Blackadder
      Keith - The Office
Jazz - Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
      Les - Men Behaving Badly
Angie - Boys From The Blackstuff
      Randy - South Park

Joe only from the early seasons though Billy.

I hate the way they wrote him to be more talkative etc later on.
