Can't honestly remember about how many games in, but definitely never showed league table on opening day.

Yes it was shown in the 80's, when league ladders  were must have items. Either that or I just took more notice of it than everyone else.

Sky show it because they should show it. The title race begins from the first weekend, not the run in.
