England looked good in the minutes they were 1-0 down and 2-1 down. If they played without the handbrake on they should have won.

Southgate weak for keeping Kane in the starting XI. Biggest jinx in football.

People will point out in Southgate's reign he's made 2 Euro finals and a World Cup semi...I actually think he's cost England in those big games.
I don't rate him one bit...to think he was actually being linked to replace Klopp...FFS

End of the day he's had 4 bites of the cherry with supposedly "the best England squad ever" against the worst Italian, French, Spanish, Dutch etc sides ever and failed every time. Taken England further than Sven, Fabio, Roy.....great? Is that supposed to mean something now? He's still a failure and his football is sh*t.

Spain were the best team no doubt. Don't think it was a particularly high quality game mind . When England had to get a goal they showed they could assert themselves and compete with Spain but they then reverted to their default style of play coached into them by Southgate of sitting back, being slow in the build up and ultimately strangling the life out of the game. It's not good to watch and it's a huge waste of the talent available. I don't think Southgate's a bad guy and there have been plenty of worse England managers but the style of play is so negative. If that was replicated in a league season he'd be battling relegation.

Watkins, Palmer and Trent should have started. Taking Mainoo off was ridiculous. Manager picking favourites rather than on merit.

It's clear that on paper the England team was much better. Better first team and better subs. Unfortunately, Southgate was the coach and therefore, they never deserved to win such a tournament.

Spain deserved to win and luckily for football they did.

Hopefully, Southgate will soon be gone. He can take Kane with him too. I'm not English, I get that Kane is a great scorer but how can your National team captain be someone who has never won anything at 30 years old?

I'd rather have Trent, Rice, Walker even Bellingham than Kane as a leader. He's supposed to bring experience, but he can't, he has never been a winner.

Also, what's the point of having so many talented players if you would only use about 15 of them and subs would play only 20 minutes? Bowen, Palmer, Eze, Gordon could probably have had more of an impact than Foden. I don't blame the latter, but the coach. Saka has played so many games, use other players, you have the luxury of having great subs.

Hopefully things will soon change. This generation of English footballers deserve better.

On second thoughts it was only a sky bet list of odds for our next manager but just the thought of him as Jurgens replacement sends a shiver....

For many years England have gone into tournaments with fans believing they have the best squad and are favourites to win. Obviously, there is a long history of disappointment.

Spain were the best team in the tournament and deserved to win. England have a lot of good players but unfortunately most of them are central attacking midfielders. They lack quality at GK, CB (although Stones and Guehi had a good tournament) LB and LW. Harry Kane is a good centre forward but was probably not fit and should not be in the starting 11.

I think it's been a fairly bad tournament with many of the best players and teams below what we expected. Lots appeared tired and in need of a holiday after a long season. The football from most teams was very conservative compared to Premier league and Champions league.

Southgate has been a good manager over the last 8 years but it's probably time for a change.

Southgate has been a good manager over the last 8 years but it's probably time for a change.

Southgate has done well to get the team to the two finals - no doubt about that.  Many better managers have failed miserably over the years to even get them that close.  Big slice of luck with the draw obviously as they only faced one semi-decent side on the way to the final compared to Spain who had to knock out some big guns.  England on the other side of the draw wouldn't have got to the final.

His problem is that he is too focused on stopping the opposition and with the attacking talent he has that makes him the wrong manager for the current squad.

Anyway, he has done a reasonable job and about last night I'm just glad that it hasn't ended up with one of the players taking the 'fury of the nation' because they missed a pen or got sent off or something.

For me, France v Spain in the semi's was probably the tournament decider.
