It’s a very much discussed issue round the city and it’s come from someone close to the family

      3 year extension, good.
If he gets £300k a week he should build a statue of his agent in his living room.

It's the standard if you're Jude Bellingham. It would be excessive for Trent.

(I do get that, with one year left on his contract, he holds the aces in a negotiation, and the one thing the club don't want is him leaving for free in a year. So I can understand us paying over the odds. But that is on the high side even when you allow for that. So, yeah, his agent has done well, if that is accurate.)

It’s the standard for one of the best players in the club and one of the best rights backs in the game who has proven himself

That still puts him on wages below Mo and suspect will be the same as VVD

If we want to keep the best in the world we need to pay wages to reflect that

Hmmm  me fink that may suit your narrative. Think the kid we bought around £110k a week.  Anyway truth be known personally not really bothered  what we pay as long as they produce the goods.

So a kid that’s not even played 50 games on more than World Cup winners and seasoned internationals

That’s the same wage as Martinez is on

Hopefully he has agreed a new contract.

Next step for me would be get him back focused on being the best RB in the game and lessen the forays into midfield

£300k a week is ridiculous but what can you do? A year left they have you over a barrel. He is one of the best in the game when he's at it so on the open market he'd have no difficulty getting that somewhere else. Love of the club? Probably part of it. Went off the boil a bit last season IMO but if he can be more consistent and get back to the player that helped us win the league and CL he'll be worth the money. Looking forward to seeing if Slot can be the man to help him do that.

Remember he was injured for a large chunk of last season.
