Plucking Arthur Melo from relative obscurity didn't solve anything. Not sure a fit Melo would've made any difference. The ageing midfield is still an issue. Might have to wait till summer to solve that, what with the ins and outs, probably needs a major overhaul.
A point of concern is that finances are still taking priority over vital team requirements!
The midfield is a case in point when any other top flight club would have given the ageing Henderson much lighter duties and brought in a replacement long before now.
Of course a quality midfielder would cost much more than the £40m paid for Gakpo but the increasing injuries suffered by Henderson already impact on the team's performance and as stated a suitable replacement would negate the issue.
In the longer term our faithful servant would retain his invaluable service while his replacement was honed to perfection.
As stated the financial priorities once again act to the team's detriment..
