Balotelli, Aquilani, Borini, Dossena the most notable Italians that have played for Liverpool.
Dossena the only one with a decent highlights package for goals in two 4-1 wins in the same week.

Let's not actually mention his actual job which was defending, he wasn't very good at that!!

Let's be honest the Italians we've had have been crap.

Chiesa was a quality player, another here who enjoyed watching him during the Euro's in 2021, but haven't seen much of him since his injury.

Was it Paletta who ended up playing for Italy but we bought him as an Argentinian?

      Yup

Shaqiri cost us £14mil and did well for us

There are times where a player is good value for the price
      Very true.

From a Moneyball perspective it has an obvious appeal. If it doesn't work out I'm sure we could sell him to Saudi and recoup some of our outlay.

Likelihood could sell him for the same we bought him for or more.

I think we won't need to worry thought, feel he'd be a great addition

If this deal goes through I'd expect his contract would extend to at least two years, almost certainly on a fairly high wage....So if things don't go to plan he might not be easy to shift. ...Also why would the Saudi's want him?....there's no interest in him now as far as I can tell.

True, it's one of the risks we have to weigh up.  We know fairly well what it's like to have a sick note sitting on a huge salary so I'd like to think it's something we've considered.

Re. Saudi my guess is he probably doesn't want to go there at this stage of his career, as he's at a good age and there is a lot that can be achieved at club and international level.

Going to Saudi at this stage is like saying 'goodbye football as I know it, goodbye all hopes and dreams of winning titles in a meaningful league, goodbye memories and experiences of European nights, goodbye life in Europe, goodbye World Cups and Euros (he is not Kanté)'.

I'm excited by this Rossy, very very excited.

3 years ago this guy would've been seen as one of those marquee signings for any club in Europe, and last season was as good as any season he's produced which earned him such rave reviews in the first place.

Keep him fit and we're pissing ourselves laughing.

Think that's what we need to remember he was something special in them years and if keeps fit no reason he can't replicate that form.or something near

& it was, until we couldn't get our main target.....so we moved onto opportunistic signings like Mama and Yayzar.

Plus we could play without a 6 in our next game and absolutely smash our opponent.

Looks like this will get done then but after Zubimendi I'll be a bit cautious still!

Probably wouldn't be my choice but I'm glad the club are signing someone who is more comfortable at right wing. Depth in that position has been an issue for years and hopefully if Chiesa settles well then we can manage Mo's minutes better. I think flogging him week in, week out is probably why his form tails off towards the end of a season.

I'll be like a kid at Xmas if this happens. One of those players I always thought we should sign but didn't think we'd go for him.

Honestly I don't think we go down the panic but route Keith. Even ones like this that pop up have been scouted and we make the move as an opportunity arises that maybe wasn't always there.

Nah. As I said, at the very least, he'll be good cover for old man Mo...
This lad, at this price, is a very astute signing if he can remain fit for his time here (assuming he signs)....
You're sounding nervously jealous Keithy boy...  ;D

Think it’s a strange buy unless you lot doing what you normally do and a No 6 still up your sleeve that we're not aware of yet. The way things stand you haven’t improved on last year you’ve deteriorated.
