Fact that the ball was knocked square and VVD was in contention within one second of the foul. Could claim that VAR gave the ref the benefit and felt it wasn't a 'clear and obvious' error. But still should've sent Harrington to the monitor to look at the direction of Wilson and the ball. Both were not going toward the goal.
When the incident happened, Robbo was the last man. From my view in the centre of the Upper Anfield Road, it looked a clearcut decision and despite the wait, there weren't that many protests when it was confirmed.
I also thought we were poor on the day. The end result was worth the same as the game at Newcastle, but a point at Newcastle is a decent result. A point at home to mid table mediocre plodders who can't beat Wolves or Southampton at home, less so. I didn't really celebrate the second equaliser either, I wanted to focus on getting the three points instead, like last year when we threw the kitchen sink at them, scored twice in a minute and won the game. Seeing Salah unmarked during the injury time goalmouth scramble, waiting to tap the ball home to win it this year, was genuinely painful to watch, as was Elliott's corner kicks. I don't know how Alisson stayed on the pitch either after getting the head injury in the second half. Usually sustaining such injuries is an automatic substitution these days as per protocol, even if the player is not badly injured. For whatever reason though, Kelleher didn't even make it off the bench, let alone onto the pitch. At least we didn't lose though.
It was my first visit to the new Anfield Road stand, since it reopened. It's been open for a year now, and considering all the money thrown at it and the time taken to build it, I thought it would be a major upgrade on what it was before. So I was disappointed to see that it was more or less the same, just a bit bigger. And I don't understand either why LFCTV match coverage is not shown in the concourses, rather than SSN. That's one thing though that can be easily changed.
